To this date, the company has collected and responsibly disposed of over 1 billion pounds of electronics and appliances.
The retail company offers this program as a convenient way for customers to bring in used electronics to trade in for gift cards.
To find out the trade in value of your electronics, the company provides an estimate on their website for each accepted item.
There are a few stipulations to being qualified for this program:
- You must be 18 or older
- All manuals, remote controls, power supplies and other accessories that came with the product should be included (if not, they will be subtracted from the trade-in value)
- Products need to be brought to one of the participating locations, which can be found at BestBuy.com/TradeIn
- Products must be backed up, then wiped of data before trade-in.
The program most popularly accepts:
- PC laptops
- Cellular phones
- Video Games
- Gaming Hardware
Those are only a few of the products that the company is willing to accept. Check out the Trade In program page on their website to see if your item is accepted in the program.
If it doesn’t qualify, you can still bring it in to a participating location to have it recycled.
The company’s recycle is the largest recycler of used electronics and appliances in the nation. They strive to reduce e-waste by accepting all tech items, regardless of it’s age, wear and tear, brand, or where you originally purchased it.
Amazon Trade In Account
Another similar and arguably more user-friendly option would be to use an Amazon trade in account.
The reason that some may find this even easier to use is because Amazon automatically filters through your previous orders and finds eligible items for you.
It then displays the trade-in value below each item, knowing exactly what the current demand is as well as how old your product is. There’s no guessing when it comes to finding eligible amazon products.
